“Drama in Lagos! Residents Blow Whistle as Alleged Cable Thieves Caught Red-Handed in Midnight Mission”

Tension reportedly erupted in a Lagos community after suspected cable vandals were dramatically arrested for allegedly tampering with armoured telecommunications cables in what residents described as suspicious late-hour activity.

The suspects were apprehended by operatives of the Lagos State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in the Amuwo-Odofin area following an alert raised by vigilant members of the community.

According to reports, residents became alarmed after noticing unusual movements around critical telecom infrastructure and quickly tipped off security operatives, leading to a swift intervention that reportedly stopped the alleged act in progress.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the Lagos NSCDC command, Oluwaseun Abolurin, revealed in an official statement on Thursday that the success of the operation was made possible through reliable intelligence from concerned residents.

He explained that the arrest forms part of the agency’s intensified crackdown on vandalism and destruction of public infrastructure across Lagos communities.

The command also praised residents of the Amuwo-Odofin community for staying alert and cooperating with security agencies, noting that their quick action significantly contributed to the suspects’ arrest.

Authorities further disclosed that stronger collaboration between communities and law enforcement has been encouraged through several engagement programmes carried out in the first and second quarters of 2026 with key stakeholders.

Meanwhile, investigations into the matter are still ongoing as officials work to uncover more details surrounding the alleged vandalism operation.
