“Job Seekers Betrayed? Shocking Benue Recruitment Scam Busted As ‘Fake Officials’ Allegedly Cash Out Over ₦1.2M!”

NSCDC Cracks Down on Alleged Job Racketeering Syndicate in Benue

What many desperate job seekers thought was a golden employment opportunity reportedly turned into a heartbreaking nightmare after the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) uncovered an alleged job scam operation in Benue State.

In a dramatic twist, operatives of the Benue State Command of the NSCDC arrested two men allegedly involved in a recruitment racket designed to exploit unsuspecting Nigerians desperately searching for jobs.

The suspects, identified as Okpara Michael Abah, 42, and Ade John Ogbu, 37, were apprehended in Makurdi, the Benue State capital, during what security officials described as an intelligence-led operation carried out on April 30, 2026.

According to the Command’s spokesperson, SC EA Michael, the suspects were allegedly caught while attempting to conduct what authorities described as a suspicious and unauthorized data capture exercise targeted at job seekers hoping to secure employment.

Investigators reportedly uncovered a disturbing money trail, alleging that one of the key suspects, Okpara Michael Abah, collected a staggering ₦1,178,500 from several applicants under the guise of helping them secure jobs.

As if that wasn’t enough, authorities further claimed that another ₦116,500 was allegedly collected from victims for uniforms and other supposed recruitment-related materials.

During the operation, officials reportedly recovered several items believed to be linked to the alleged scheme, including application forms, applicants’ passport photographs, and a still camera.

Speaking through the Command’s spokesperson while presenting the suspects, Commandant Bitrus Alice Larai warned Nigerians to stay alert and avoid falling prey to suspicious recruitment offers promising quick employment.

The NSCDC boss reportedly reminded the public that recruitment into agencies under the Federal Ministry of Interior follows official procedures and should never involve shady payments to individuals.

She further advised job seekers to always confirm employment announcements through verified government platforms before handing over money or sensitive personal information.

Meanwhile, the command revealed that the suspects are expected to face prosecution once investigations are concluded.

Social Media Is Already Talking…

With unemployment still biting hard, many Nigerians online are questioning just how many fake recruitment schemes may still be operating unnoticed. One painful question remains: How many hopeful applicants have already fallen victim?
