The Nigerian Army has dealt another heavy blow to criminal gangs terrorizing communities in Kaduna State after launching a series of successful operations that led to the arrest of suspected bandits, the recovery of stolen livestock, and the restoration of peace in troubled areas.
According to military authorities, troops under Sector 1 of the Joint Task Force North West Operation Fansan Yamma carried out coordinated offensives that disrupted bandit activities and forced several criminals to flee their hideouts.
In a statement released by the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, soldiers acted on credible intelligence on June 20, 2026, concerning a cattle-rustling operation in one of the state’s communities.
The troops swiftly moved into action and engaged the fleeing suspects in a fierce gun battle. During the confrontation, two suspected bandits were neutralized while weapons, ammunition, and the stolen livestock were successfully recovered.
Military officials described the operation as a major victory against cattle thieves who have repeatedly targeted rural communities. However, tragedy struck during the incident as one civilian reportedly lost his life at the hands of the fleeing criminals.
In another breakthrough the same day, troops conducting a night patrol intercepted two suspected bandits. Security operatives reportedly discovered incriminating digital evidence on the suspects’ devices, linking them to terrorist and bandit networks operating within the region.
The suspects have since been taken into custody and are currently assisting investigators with ongoing inquiries.
The army’s offensive momentum continued on June 21 when troops on a fighting patrol encountered armed criminals who retreated into nearby bushes after coming under military pressure.
Refusing to back down, soldiers pursued the suspects and successfully arrested two alleged bandit informants. Motorcycles and communication gadgets containing valuable intelligence were recovered during the operation. Preliminary investigations suggest the suspects may have been actively supporting criminal gangs.
Meanwhile, troops were also called into action following chaos that erupted in Mararraba community after an angry mob allegedly lynched a woman accused of child trafficking.
The situation quickly spiraled out of control as enraged residents attempted to attack public facilities and block a major highway, creating panic among motorists and residents.
Security forces swiftly intervened, dispersing the crowd, securing key government infrastructure, and restoring calm to the area. Their rapid response ensured traffic resumed normally and prevented further breakdown of law and order.
Military authorities reaffirmed their commitment to sustaining aggressive operations against bandits, terrorists, and other criminal elements threatening peace across the North-West region.
