The estranged wife of Nollywood actor Akin Olaiya has finally broken her silence, sharing emotional details about the collapse of their marriage and the painful experience that forced her to walk away.
Nafisat Feenah Hammed, in a video circulating on social media, said she endured emotional pain and frustration throughout the marriage before making the difficult decision to leave. According to her, staying any longer would have meant continuing to suffer in silence.
The mother of one revealed that she left the marriage sometime last year because she no longer felt valued or respected. She alleged that the relationship was plagued by violence, insisting that no one should expect her to remain in an environment where she no longer felt safe.
While addressing those criticizing her decision to leave, Nafisat said people can never understand what truly happens behind closed doors. She maintained that if she had been happy in the marriage, she would never have considered ending it, adding that only God knows everything she went through.
Despite making the allegations, Nafisat said she has no intention of exposing every detail of her failed marriage online or speaking ill of her estranged husband. She explained that she prefers to leave the matter in God’s hands rather than engage in public mudslinging.
Her emotional statement comes shortly after reports emerged that the couple had officially ended their marriage barely one year after tying the knot. An alleged dissolution letter circulating online claimed that several attempts were made to reconcile the couple after Nafisat reportedly moved out of their matrimonial home, but the efforts were unsuccessful.
According to the alleged document, Akin Olaiya also sought the intervention of members of Nafisat’s family in a bid to save the marriage. However, she reportedly maintained that she was no longer interested in returning to the relationship.
The Yoruba movie star married Nafisat in a private Nikkah ceremony in July 2025. At the time, videos from the low-key wedding attracted attention online, with many social media users commenting on the bride’s facial expressions during the ceremony.
Following the wedding, Akin Olaiya publicly thanked Allah, family members, friends and well-wishers for making the ceremony a success, expressing hope for a happy married life.
Neither Akin Olaiya nor his representatives had publicly responded in detail to Nafisat’s latest allegations at the time of the reports.
