Veteran Nigerian entertainer Charly Boy has stirred conversations online after making a surprising statement about his almost five-decade marriage.
The outspoken singer and activist, whose real name is Charles Oputa, opened up about his relationship during a recent interview, where he reflected on being married to the same woman for 48 years.
According to Charly Boy, staying with one person for that long can sometimes become repetitive, comparing the experience to eating the same meal for many years.
“I have been married to one woman for 48 years. It is very boring. Imagine eating the same Egusi for years, it’s boring now,” he said.
The statement immediately got people talking, with many debating his view on long-term marriages and whether commitment can sometimes come with routine.
However, Charly Boy explained that every marriage requires effort, patience, and understanding to survive. He noted that couples must learn how to manage challenges without allowing outsiders to interfere.
The veteran entertainer also advised against infidelity, stating that cheating destroys trust and creates deeper problems in relationships.
He added that despite the difficulties that come with marriage, couples must continue working towards keeping their union strong.
This is not the first time Charly Boy has spoken openly about his personal life. In a previous interview, he revealed that he had experienced several marriages before meeting his current wife, Diane Oputa.
Years ago, the singer also hinted at marital struggles but later managed to reconcile with his wife.
Charly Boy’s latest comment has once again sparked discussions about love, commitment, and the realities of long-term relationships.
