Nollywood actress Omobolaride Akinyanju, better known as Ashabi, has sparked reactions online after appearing to have moved on from her relationship with singer Portable.
The Yoruba actress recently shared a series of photos and videos from a date with a mystery man. Although she deliberately kept the man’s identity private, eagle-eyed fans spotted his reflection in her sunglasses.
Ashabi described the outing as a date with a stranger and said she enjoyed the experience.
According to her, sometimes people need to step out, breathe, laugh and simply enjoy the moment without overthinking things.
“Went on a date with a stranger and honestly. It feels so good. Sometimes you need to step out, breathe, laugh, and enjoy the moment without overthinking everything.”
Her post immediately triggered reactions from netizens, with some jokingly warning that Portable might soon respond.
One fan wrote, “Baba Fijabi left the WhatsApp group and blocked the admin.”
Another commented, “Haa, they will drop album for you.”
A third wrote, “Portable must see this. Who be that guy wey dey reflect inside your sunglasses? I go tell for you.”
Another fan reacted, “I love it for you jare. But the episodes go pass Peter’s own.”
Someone else joked, “I don catch you the bobo wear white.”
Ashabi and Portable’s troubled relationship
Ashabi’s latest outing comes after her highly publicised relationship with Portable, with whom she shares two children.
A month ago, during an exchange with the singer, Ashabi reportedly vowed never to return to him and placed a curse on him.
She had previously spoken about their relationship during an interview with Oyinmomo TV, claiming that Portable took advantage of her when she was younger. She also described him as someone who had once been caring.
Their relationship has been marked by several public controversies. On New Year, the pair were involved in a heated confrontation, while Portable later accused Ashabi of coming to his home to attack his family.
Ashabi subsequently gave her own account of the incident, alleging that Portable brought out an axe, collected their phones and assaulted members of her family.
Speaking about the relationship in another interview, Ashabi described Portable as a narcissist and said his jealousy and anger made him unpredictable.
With her latest date, however, Ashabi appears determined to enjoy a new chapter and focus on herself.
