“APC is just backward” – Davido blasts opposition as he backs uncle Gov. Adeleke ahead of Osun election

Afrobeats superstar Davido has once again taken aim at the All Progressives Congress (APC) as he continues to publicly support his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, ahead of the state’s governorship election.

The singer reacted to a video showing the Ooni of Ife praising Governor Adeleke during the commissioning of the Ile-Ife flyover and road dualisation project.

Davido questioned why anyone would allegedly attempt to hinder development in the state while describing the APC as “backward.”

He wrote:

“APC is just backward. Why would they be doing anything to stop progress? I thought y’all were progressive?”

Davido declares support for Adeleke

In another post, Davido took his criticism further, saying people supporting the APC in Osun State were working against progress.

He wrote:

“Anybody supporting APC in Osun State is an enemy of progress. Lessons will be learnt this weekend.”

The singer has become increasingly vocal about the political situation in Osun as the election draws closer.

Davido joins uncle’s campaign

Davido recently visited Osun State as part of his efforts to support his uncle’s re-election campaign.

In April, he was appointed Youth Mobilisation for the campaign council supporting Adeleke, a role that places him at the centre of efforts to engage young voters.

Speaking about his involvement, Davido said he had recently released an album but still made time to return to Osun because of his genuine concern for the state and its people.

Governor Adeleke also welcomed the singer into the campaign, praising his energy, influence and passion for youth mobilisation.

Davido’s growing political involvement

The singer’s involvement in Osun politics is not new.

He actively campaigned for Adeleke during the previous governorship election and celebrated after his uncle emerged victorious.

Last year, the Osun State Government also appointed Davido as chairman of the newly established Osun Sports Trust Fund.

His increasing participation in politics has even led some prominent Nigerians to speculate about a possible future political career for the singer.

For now, however, Davido appears focused on supporting his uncle’s bid and mobilising young people ahead of the Osun governorship election.
