“Locked Up, Starved & Scarred? Shocking Horror as Kano Foster Mum Allegedly Turns Toddler’s Life Into Nightmare”

A disturbing child abuse scandal has sparked outrage in Kano after a 19-month-old boy was rescued from what authorities described as a heartbreaking case of alleged neglect and maltreatment by his foster mother.

The little boy, identified as Musa, was reportedly saved by officials of the Kano State Ministry of Women Affairs, Children and Persons with Special Needs following alarming complaints from concerned residents in the Tsamiya Babba community.

According to reports, neighbours raised the alarm after noticing troubling signs of neglect surrounding the toddler, accusing his foster mother of allegedly mistreating him despite legally gaining custody from the Nassarawa Children’s Home.

Early investigations reportedly uncovered shocking details about the child’s condition. Musa was said to be severely malnourished, while residents alleged that he was regularly locked inside the house alone for long hours without supervision. Community members also claimed the child was repeatedly exposed to dangerous and unsafe conditions.

The heartbreaking situation reportedly caught the attention of the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Amina Abdullahi, who immediately directed a full-scale investigation into the matter. The probe was led by the Acting Permanent Secretary, Muhammad Sambo Iliyasu, to uncover the truth behind the disturbing allegations.

During the investigation, officials identified the foster mother as Aisha Shuaibu. Authorities said she allegedly admitted to leaving the child unattended on at least three occasions. However, investigators reportedly became even more concerned after discovering several scars on the toddler’s body — injuries she allegedly could not clearly explain.

The shocking case has since been handed over to the Gezawa Divisional Police Headquarters for further investigation, while the foster mother remains in custody as authorities continue their inquiries.

Reacting to the incident, the Kano State Ministry strongly condemned every form of child abuse, warning that stricter monitoring and checks would now be carried out across foster homes in the state to prevent similar tragedies.

The incident has already stirred reactions online, with many Nigerians demanding justice for little Musa and calling for tougher punishment against anyone found guilty of abusing vulnerable children.
