The killing of the Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) in Benue State has taken a dramatic turn after a viral video surfaced online showing a man issuing a disturbing warning to the people of the state.
The unidentified speaker, who claimed to be speaking on behalf of the Fulani community, warned that Benue residents would “regret” the death of Alhaji Ardo Risku Mohammed and his associate, Yakubu Isa. Although the identity of the man and the authenticity of the video have not been independently verified, the footage has sparked widespread concern across social media.
Ardo Risku was reportedly killed last week while returning from a peace meeting said to have been organized by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ohimini Local Government Area. The meeting was aimed at addressing security concerns and easing tensions between farming communities and Fulani herders.
In the now-viral clip, the speaker described the late MACBAN chairman as an influential leader whose efforts helped maintain peace in Benue. He claimed that Ardo Risku was so important to the Fulani community that killing him was comparable to killing their own president.
“Benue people will regret this. Killing this man is like killing our own President. It would have been better to kill the President and the National Security Adviser than to kill this man,” the speaker said.
He went on to insist that the deceased dedicated himself to resolving conflicts and preventing violence in the state, adding that those responsible for his death had made what he described as “the greatest mistake.”
The video has triggered intense reactions online, with many Nigerians expressing concern over the threatening remarks. Several social media users have urged security agencies to identify the speaker, verify the video’s authenticity, and take immediate steps to prevent any possible escalation of tensions.
As of the time of this report, authorities have not issued an official statement regarding the viral video or the identity of the individual behind the threat. Investigations are expected as concerns grow over maintaining peace and security in the region.
