Davido’s logistics manager, Israel DMW, has reacted angrily to reports that the singer has allegedly been banned from performing in Edo State.
Israel rejected the reported directive, insisting that no individual or government official could prevent Davido from visiting or performing in the state.
Israel reacts to alleged ban
The controversy reportedly followed Davido’s online clash with Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo during the Osun State governorship election.
Reports had claimed that Apostle Kassy Chukwu, the governor’s Senior Special Assistant on Digital Media, announced in a video that Davido had been banned from performing in Edo State over comments he allegedly made about the governor.
Reacting, Israel argued that Davido could not simply be banned from Edo, particularly because of his family connection to the state.
He also pointed out that Davido’s mother is from Edo State.
Israel attacks Kassy Chukwu
Israel went further by criticising Kassy Chukwu, questioning his authority to speak on behalf of Edo residents.
In an Instagram post accompanying a video of the cleric, Israel described him as a settler and accused him of causing trouble in Benin City.
He wrote:
“HE’S FROM EBONYI STATE, AND NOT FROM EDO. 100% A REAL SETTLER, WHO HAS BECOME A COMPLETE NUISANCE IN BENIN CITY.”
Israel also described him as an “APC fake pastor” and urged Edo residents to disregard the reported announcement.
‘No man can ban Oga from Edo’
Reiterating his position, Israel declared:
“NO MAN ON THIS PLANET EARTH CAN BAN OGA FROM EDO, HIS MATERNAL HOME.”
His reaction has added another layer to the growing controversy involving Davido, the Edo State Government and political figures, with social media users divided over whether an artist can be restricted from performing in a state following political disagreements.
