Nigerian music superstar Davido has reacted after the All Progressives Congress (APC) appointed Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma to lead the party’s campaign council ahead of the upcoming Osun State governorship election.
The APC announced Governor Uzodimma, who also serves as Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, as the National Campaign Council Chairman for the August 15, 2026, governorship election in Osun State.
Responding to the development, Davido shared a light-hearted but competitive message on social media. The singer revealed that he has respect for Governor Uzodimma because of his connection to his wife’s home state, but made it clear that politics is a different ball game.
According to Davido, despite his admiration for the governor, both sides would meet on the political battlefield when the election begins.
The award-winning singer has remained one of the most vocal celebrities in Nigerian politics, especially when it comes to Osun State. He has consistently thrown his weight behind his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke, and has actively participated in previous election campaigns.
In recent weeks, Davido has also exchanged words with several political figures, including former presidential aide Reno Omokri and former Osun State Governor Adegboyega Oyetola.
His latest reaction has sparked conversations online as supporters of different political parties continue to gear up for the highly anticipated Osun governorship election.
