” CALABAR IN PANIC! Feared ‘White Cap’ Gang Finally Busted as Police Uncover Massive Loot Haul, Recover Hidden Gun”

Residents of Calabar can finally breathe a sigh of relief after security operatives scored a major victory against a notorious burglary syndicate that has allegedly terrorized communities for months.

In a dramatic intelligence-driven operation, the Cross River State Police Command smashed a suspected criminal network widely known among residents as the infamous “White Cap Gang,” arresting four alleged members and recovering a staggering collection of stolen valuables.

The suspects, identified as Effiong Ene (27), Hope Linus (18), Patrick Etim (26), and Maurice Asuquo (27), were apprehended following a carefully coordinated operation by officers attached to the Uwanse Police Division.

According to police sources, the breakthrough began after investigators tracked and arrested Effiong Ene, who had reportedly been on the radar of security agencies over multiple burglary incidents across Calabar. His arrest reportedly opened the floodgates, leading officers to other suspected members of the gang and several hideouts packed with suspected stolen property.

What officers discovered shocked many residents.

Recovered items included flat-screen televisions, laptops, decoders, refrigerators, household appliances, gas cylinders, solar equipment, POS machines, clothing, and various burglary tools believed to have been used during criminal operations.

The mountain of recovered items has fueled speculation that the syndicate may have been responsible for a long list of unsolved break-ins targeting homes and businesses throughout Calabar South and neighboring communities.

Police say investigations are far from over, as efforts are underway to uncover the full scope of the gang’s operations and track down additional suspects believed to still be on the run.

Authorities have also begun the process of identifying the rightful owners of the recovered items, raising hopes among victims who may soon be reunited with their stolen belongings.

But that wasn’t the only major breakthrough recorded by the police.

In a separate operation carried out in Ikom Local Government Area, officers on patrol arrested 36-year-old Asu Ebolom near Atimaka Trailer Park after a search allegedly uncovered a locally fabricated pistol concealed on him.

The suspect was immediately taken into custody as investigators launched a probe to determine where the weapon came from and whether it may be connected to other criminal activities in the area.

Commending the officers involved, Cross River State Commissioner of Police, CP Rashid B. Afegbua, praised their dedication, professionalism, and commitment to protecting residents. He reiterated the command’s resolve to strengthen intelligence-led policing and ensure criminals have no safe haven in the state.

Police spokesperson ASP Eitokpah Sunday Akata also called on residents to remain vigilant and continue providing useful information that could help security agencies crack down on criminal networks.

As investigations deepen, many residents are hoping this latest crackdown marks the beginning of the end for one of the most talked-about burglary gangs in Calabar.
